The School of Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering at SIU offers the best of both worlds: one of the nation’s most beautiful campuses paired with modern and comfortable classrooms and research facilities. Students will find laboratories that are comfortable, efficient and both well-equipped and well-maintained. Plus, with plenty of common areas and meeting places, space is always available to work on assignments and to meet with other students for group projects and out-of-class activities.
Fish Bowl
The Fish Bowl is a space at the center of the Engineering Building with comfortable seating and plenty of room for students to work on their individual assignments, hold group meetings, or just relax between classes.
Computer Learning Centers
A broad understanding of computer hardware and software is necessary in the professional fields of engineering. Students at SIU benefit from some of the most modern and powerful computing power around. Computer Learning Centers offer incredible computing power along with all of the necessary software and programs for class projects, experiments and research. From powerful spreadsheets and data analysis packages to CAD and design programs, engineering students at SIU have it all right at their fingertips.
ET Simonds Alumni Lounge
The ET Simonds Alumni Lounge is a uniquely designed room that is available for professional meetings, seminars by faculty, students and professionals, and student organization meetings. Successes of students, faculty and staff are often celebrated in the Alumni Lounge.
Classrooms
Classrooms of the College of Engineering allow students to learn in an environment that is efficient and pleasant. Conveniently located, our facilities are well-lit, comfortable and flexible. Plus, many give great views of the beautiful Campus Lake and Thompson Woods. Most engineering classes meet in the Engineering building.
